Abstract Ti-3Al-5Mo-4.5V (TC16) alloy was prepared by powder metallurgy (PM) process with Ti powder, Al-V alloy powder and Mo powder as raw materials. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the powder metallurgy TC16 alloy were studied. The results show that the powder metallurgy TC16 alloys have a basketweave microstructure composed of α phase and β phase. The powder metallurgy TC16 alloy with the relative density of 93.5%, the tensile strength of 1 062 MPa, the yield strength of 973 MPa and the uniform elongation of 2.3% is obtained, in which the yield strength reachs the level of casted TC16 alloy.
